Faucet & Fixture Repair and Installation
A dripping faucet is rarely the faucet. It is almost always a worn cartridge, seat or O-ring inside it.
Common fixture problems
Constant drip
Worn cartridge or seals. On most quality faucets this is a repair, not a replacement, and the parts are often still available years later.
Handle stiff or stripped
Mineral buildup inside the valve body, which is a very San Diego problem. Sometimes cleaning and re-greasing solves it; sometimes the cartridge is done.
Weak flow at one fixture only
Usually a clogged aerator or a partially closed angle stop, not a whole-house pressure issue. Worth checking before anyone quotes you something bigger.
Leak under the sink
Compression fittings, worn supply lines, or the drain tailpiece. Braided stainless supply lines are cheap insurance if yours are the old plastic type.
Shower valve dripping
Behind-the-wall cartridge wear. Many brands have rebuild kits, so replacing the whole valve is not always necessary.
Fixture installation
New faucets and showerheads
Kitchen, bathroom, laundry and outdoor. We check that the existing angle stops and supply lines are sound while we are in there, because replacing a faucet onto a seized shutoff creates a future problem.
What hard water does to fixtures
San Diego water shortens fixture life. Cartridges scale, aerators clog, and finishes spot. If you are replacing fixtures often, a whole-house softener changes the maths - see water treatment.
